Description:
3-bromo-2-nitrothiophene is a functional group that is composed of three carbon atoms and two nitrogens. The hydroxy group on the molecule has a hydroxyl (-OH) group, which is a nucleophilic atom. This functional group can be used in surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, where it will interact with a metal surface. 3-bromo-2-nitrothiophene can also be used as part of a bifunctional coupling reaction, where it will react with both a sodium sulfide molecule and an organic halide to form an ionic bond. 3-bromo-2-nitrothiophene can also be used as part of a palladium-catalyzed coupling reaction, which will form the disulfide bond by reacting with sodium sulfide and nitro compounds.
