3-(1,3-benzothiazol-2-yl)aniline is a small molecule that has shown to induce apoptosis in cancer cells. It binds to the DNA of cancer cells and causes them to enter the G1 phase of the cell cycle. This prevents tumor growth and induces apoptosis. 3-(1,3-benzothiazol-2-yl)aniline has been found to have antiproliferative activity against cancer cell lines, such as MCF-7, Mv4-11, and HL60 cells. This drug also induces apoptosis in these cell lines. 3-(1,3-benzothiazol-2-yl)aniline was not found to bind to any other type of human cell line tested (e.g., fibroblast), which may be due to its high specificity for cancer cells.
