Product Information
- 4-Bromomethyl-tetrahydro-pyran
- 4-(Bromomethyl)Oxane
4-(Bromomethyl)tetrahydropyran (4-BMP) is a nuclear receptor modulator that has been shown to be a potent and selective high-potency agonist of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα). 4-BMP has been shown to modulate PPARα activity in vitro, and is currently being investigated as a potential therapeutic for metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes. The compound is an aldehyde with a hydroxymethyl group that enhances its lipophilicity. It also has high lipophilicity, which means it can cross the blood-brain barrier and enter the brain. This allows 4-BMP to act on PPARα in the brain and increase insulin sensitivity.
