Product Information
- 3-Carboxy-4-methoxyphenylboronic acid
- 3-Carboxy-4-Methoxybenzeneboronic Acid
5-Borono-2-methoxybenzoic acid is a flavonoid that is found in many plants and fruits. It is a potent inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), which are enzymes that produce prostaglandins involved in inflammation. The structure of 5-borono-2-methoxybenzoic acid was first elucidated by the use of X-ray crystallography and nuclear magnetic resonance. This compound has been shown to be an efficient recyclable adsorbent for heavy metal ions such as copper, lead, and mercury. The optimal pH for 5BMBAA adsorption is between 4.5 to 6.5, with the optimum at 5.5. In vitro hydrolysis studies have shown that 5BMBAA can be hydrolyzed into quercetin and phenylboronic acid within 24 hours at
