Description

2-Bromoisobutyramide is an antimicrobial agent that belongs to the group of amides. It is a drug encapsulation agent that prevents the release of drugs from polymeric matrices. 2-Bromoisobutyramide has been shown to increase antibody concentrations and inhibit autoimmune diseases, including multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. This compound also has antiviral effects on influenza virus and HIV. 2-Bromoisobutyramide inhibits viral replication by interfering with the synthesis of viral RNA. This drug binds to the enzyme ribonuclease H, which is required for viral RNA synthesis, inhibiting its activity and consequently preventing the production of new virus particles.
