Description:

(S)-5,5'-Bis(diphenylphosphino)-4,4'-bibenzodioxole is a chiral catalyst for asymmetric hydrogenation. It has been shown to be a superior catalyst for the reduction of prochiral ketones and esters to the corresponding chiral alcohols. The complex is an enantioselective catalyst that can be used in the hydrogenation of alkenes and alkynes with high turnover numbers. The substrate scope includes various functional groups such as hydroxyl, nitro and cyano groups. This compound has been shown to have a greater than 99% ee when used in conjunction with trifluoroacetic acid as the solvent.
