(2S,4R)-1-(tert-Butoxycarbonyl)-4-hydroxy-2-(hydroxymethyl)pyrrolidine is a natural compound that has been isolated from Streptomyces sp. and found to have cytotoxic activity against human tumor cell lines. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor cells in mice with induced tumors. (2S,4R)-1-(tert-Butoxycarbonyl)-4-hydroxy-2-(hydroxymethyl)pyrrolidine is structurally similar to pyrrolidone and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties as well.
