Bis(2,4-pentanedionato)cobalt(II) Dihydrate is a coordination compound that is used in cross-coupling reactions. It is a green and environmentally friendly reagent that can be used as an alternative to toxic and expensive transition metal catalysts. Bis(2,4-pentanedionato)cobalt(II) Dihydrate is also used to hydrate polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). The alkene group of the compound reacts with the hydroxyl group of PVP to form a hemiacetal linkage.
