2-Bromo-2-cyano-N,N-dimethylacetamide is an organic compound with the molecular formula CHBrCN. It is a colorless liquid that is soluble in organic solvents. 2-Bromo-2-cyano-N,N-dimethylacetamide initiates radical polymerization reactions. The solubility of 2-bromo-2-cyano-N,N-dimethylacetamide in organic solvents allows for its use in preparation of polymers and resins. This reagent has been used to synthesize poly(vinyl acetate) by radical initiation of the polymerization reaction between vinyl acetate and bromoethane.
