Product Information
- Pentafluoro[bis(trifluoroacetoxy)iodo]benzene
- Bistrifluoroacetoxyiodopentafluorobenzene
- (Pentafluorophenyl){Bis[(Trifluoroacetyl)Oxy]}-Lambda~3~-Iodane
Bis(trifluoroacetoxy)iodo]pentafluorobenzene is a hypervalent compound that can be used as an anticancer drug. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by binding to nitrogen atoms. This process leads to the formation of a spirocyclic intermediate, which then undergoes dehydrogenation and alkylation reactions. The resulting product is an oxalyl-containing molecule that inhibits the synthesis of DNA. Bis(trifluoroacetoxy)iodo]pentafluorobenzene has also been shown to have anti-cancer activity in mice with leukemia.
