Product Information
- Benzene-1,2-Diylbis(Diphenylphosphane)
1,2-Bis(diphenylphosphino)benzene is a ligand that forms complexes with palladium. 1,2-Bis(diphenylphosphino)benzene has been shown to be able to form hydrogen bonds with other molecules. It has also been found that 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)benzene can be activated by the addition of water or alcohols. The reaction mechanism for the nucleophilic attack of aldehydes and ketones on bis(diphenylphosphino)benzene is thought to be similar to that of the aldol cyclization reaction. This compound is being studied for its potential use in treating degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. Crystallography studies have shown that this molecule has an enolate type structure, which means it can react with electrophiles at both ends of the molecule.
