Description

2,2'-Bipyridyl 1,1'-dioxide is a hydrogen peroxide and oxidant that may be used as a reagent in organic chemistry. It can be prepared by the oxidation of aniline with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of light or heat. 2,2'-Bipyridyl 1,1'-dioxide is an oxidative agent that has stereoselective properties. It also reacts with thiohydroxamic acid to form a thiohydroxamic acid-2,2'-bipyridyl 1,1'-dioxide adduct and may have potential use in cancer therapy due to its cytotoxicity.
