This compound is prepared by the reaction of palladium chloride with diphenylphosphinobenzene in an amide solvent. The product can be purified by recrystallization or column chromatography. Bis[1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane]palladium(0) has been used to synthesize various organoboron compounds and molecules through cross-coupling reactions. This ligand dissociates under the influence of hydrogen gas and can be used to reduce metal halides.
