tert-Butoxydiphenylchlorosilane is a chiral organosilicon compound that contains reactive groups for the purpose of organic synthesis. It can be used to synthesize acetoxyacetyl, methyl ester, and β-unsaturated ester hydrochloride. This compound can also be used in the synthesis of paclitaxel from l-threonine and lithium metal. The tert-butoxydiphenylchlorosilane can be used as a silylation agent for azetidinones, which are chemical compounds that contain an azetidine ring. Tert-butoxydiphenylchlorosilane has been shown to selectively reduce reductive cleavage of chlorosilanes to produce chloromethylsilanes.
