Description:
Bromomethyl)trimethylsilane is a reactive, volatile phenoxy compound that can be prepared by reacting sodium salts with metal carbonyls in the presence of hydrochloric acid. This compound can be used as an efficient method for the preparation of nitro compounds from hydrocarbons. Bromomethyl)trimethylsilane is also used as a catalyst in organic synthesis and can react with acidic hydrogen chloride to form phenoxy chlorides.
