Bis(trimethylsilyl) sulfide is a compound that contains a semiconductor and an organic group. It has been shown to emit light when irradiated with light, and can be synthesized by treating the trifluoroacetic acid with hydroxyl groups. The synthesis of bis(trimethylsilyl) sulfide is carried out in two steps: first, the trifluoroacetic acid is treated with hydroxyl groups in the presence of a base to form dimethoxytrifluoroacetone; second, this intermediate is reacted with trimethylsilyl chloride in the presence of a base to form bis(trimethylsilyl) sulfide.
