Description:

1-Bromononane is a hydroxybenzoic acid that is used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. It is also used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other compounds, such as aromatic hydrocarbons and organic acids. 1-Bromononane has been shown to inhibit acetylcholine release from the neural synapse and inhibit mitochondrial membrane potential. This compound has also been shown to have antibiotic properties against gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, and Streptococcus pneumoniae. 1-Bromononane can be synthesized by reacting bromine with nonylacetonitrile in an acidic environment. The product can then be purified by chromatography.
