Product Information

Name:
2,5-Bis(2-hydroxyethoxy)-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane
Synonyms:
  • 1,4-Bis(dicyanomethylene)-2,5-bis(2-hydroxyethoxy)-2,5-cyclohexadiene7,7,8,8-Tetracyano-2,5-bis(2-hydroxyethoxy)quinodimethane
Description:

2,5-Bis(2-hydroxyethoxy)-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane is a semiconductor with a blue emission. It is a competitive matrix molecule that can be used for the analysis of peptides and proteins by MALDI-MS. The compound can also be used as an acceptor in matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization spectrometry (MALDES). 2,5-Bis(2-hydroxyethoxy)-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane binds to the matrix molecules and then absorbs photons from the laser excitation. This leads to electron transfer from the molecule to the matrix and cleavage of covalent bonds in the molecule or peptide sample. The resulting fragments are analyzed by MALDES.
