Benzo-12-crown 4-ether is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of benzo crown ethers. It has an optimum concentration of 0.1 M and is soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform, methanol, ethanol, acetone, ethyl acetate, and tetrahydrofuran. Benzo-12-crown 4-ether has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the tyrosine kinase activity of icotinib hydrochloride (IH) with a binding constant of 1.5 × 10 M. The molecule adopts a rigid structure due to its benzene ring and four ether groups attached to the phenyl group. The molecular weight is 576 g/mol and it has an optical rotation of +27°. FTIR spectroscopy was used to identify functional groups present in this molecule as well as its ring opening in acidic environments at pH 2.
