Description:
Bis(4-hydroxy-3-methylphenyl) sulfide is a compound that belongs to the class of organic solvents. It is soluble in organic solvents and has a low volatility. Bis(4-hydroxy-3-methylphenyl) sulfide is used as a sensitizer in recording processes for polyvinyl, fluoran, and nonpolar materials. The sensitivity of bis(4-hydroxyphenyl) sulfide to light increases when it reacts with sulfur or other substances containing sulfur. Bis(4-hydroxy-3-methylphenyl) sulfide has been used as aniline dye in the manufacture of biphenyl.
