- Sulfone, bis(p-fluorophenyl)
Bis(4-fluorophenyl) sulfone is a chemical that belongs to the group of diphenyl ethers. It is a sulfone and consists of a hydrochloric acid moiety, which is activated by the presence of a hydroxyl group. Bis(4-fluorophenyl) sulfone has been shown to be readily soluble in water, with an uptake rate of 1.5x10mol/L/min at pH 7.0. This compound also has high membrane permeability and is able to penetrate cell membranes due to its structural similarity to protonated cations. Bis(4-fluorophenyl) sulfone's stability can be increased by adding sodium carbonate or an aryl halide, such as p-nitrophenol or p-chlorobenzene.
