Product Information
Bromo-tert-butyl alcohol is a solvent that is used in analytical chemistry. Bromoacetone is an intermediate in the preparation of brominated polymers and chlorinated solvents. Bromoacetone can be synthesized from acetone and bromine gas. Bromoacetone has been shown to react with chlorine to produce artifacts, such as pentane and diethyl ether. This product has also been shown to react with ethers to produce tert-butyl ethers that are soluble in organic solvents, such as pentane and diethyl ether.
