Description

2-Bromo-4-(trifluoromethyl)aniline is a dehydrating agent that can be used to introduce amides. It has been shown to have cytotoxic effects in Sprague-Dawley rats, with LD50 values of 0.5 and 1.0 g/kg when administered intraperitoneally and intravenously. The compound is also known to cause thionyl chloride birefringence in polymers, which is important for radiation devices that use polymers as a light source. 2-Bromo-4-(trifluoromethyl)aniline's dehydration properties make it useful for introducing amides into organic compounds, such as butanoic acid, which are difficult to react with other reagents.
