- (2-Bromo-5-chlorophenyl)acetic acid
- Benzeneacetic acid, 2-bromo-5-chloro-
2-Bromo-5-chlorophenylacetic acid is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of boron compounds. It is an acid that can be used in the synthesis of amides, amino acids, and indolines. 2-Bromo-5-chlorophenylacetic acid is synthesized by the reaction of borane with an amine. This reaction proceeds via the intramolecular cyclization of an intermediate called hydroxylamine chloride. The cyclization is catalyzed by palladium and proceeds through a series of steps where the substituents on the ring are gradually removed. This process results in a five membered ring with two bromine atoms at opposite positions on the ring, which gives it its name.
