Synonyms:
  • Benzoic acid, 2-bromo-3,5-dinitro-
  • Wnr Be Cvq Enw
Description:

2-Bromo-3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid is a racemic carbinol that has been used as a substrate for chiral amides and as a reagent for derivatizing carbinols to produce enantiomers. It can also be used to form the chromatographic column. This compound is highly soluble in chloroform and other halogenated solvents. 2-Bromo-3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid is an excellent chiral derivatizing agent due to its nucleophilic nature.
2-Bromo-3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid has been shown to be active against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) isolates and Mycobacterium tuberculosis at concentrations of 1 μg/mL or higher.
