5-Bromo-2-(trifluoromethoxy)aniline (5-BTA) is a drug that inhibits the activity of cell proliferation and that has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the growth of certain cancer cells, such as those that express an isoform of the enzyme tyrosine kinase. 5-BTA is also able to block cellular proliferation by inhibiting other enzymes, such as protein kinases. The oral bioavailability of 5-BTA has been demonstrated in rats and mice. In vivo activity has been demonstrated using A2780 cells, which are human lung cancer cells that have a mutation in the gene encoding for tyrosine kinase. Selectivity against isoforms of tyrosine kinases has been observed in vitro and in vivo.
