Description:
2-Bromo-5-fluorobenzotrifluoride is a nitrate compound that can be synthesized by the reaction of cuprous cyanide and benzotrifluoride in the presence of sodium salt. The yield of this reaction is high, with a requirement for only one equivalent of sodium nitrate. This synthetic reaction also provides a good example of hydrogenation reduction. 2-Bromo-5-fluorobenzotrifluoride has been used to synthesize trifluorotoluene with a high yield.
