N-Benzoyl-DL-threonine is a synthetic compound that is hydrolyzed by the enzyme acylase. It was originally thought to be an antibiotic, but it has been found to be inactive against Streptomyces species and other soil bacteria. This compound was synthesized from two amino acids, N-acetyl-L-methionine and L-threonine, which are both naturally occurring in various organisms. The c-terminal amino acid of this molecule is unidentified.
