Description

2-(4-(Bromomethyl)phenyl)propionic acid is a synthetic compound that belongs to the group of chlorinating agents. It is used as a precursor in the production of loxoprofen sodium, which is an anti-inflammatory and analgesic drug. 2-(4-(Bromomethyl)phenyl)propionic acid is manufactured by reacting phenylpropionic acid with bromine and acetonitrile in the presence of xylene. This reaction takes place at room temperature over a period of approximately 3 hours to produce 2-(4-(bromomethyl)phenyl)propionic acid. The luminescent properties of this agent are due to its ability to release light when struck by ultraviolet radiation, which can be observed using a spectrophotometer or fluorimeter.
