N-[2-[Bis(carboxymethyl)amino]ethyl]-N-(2-hydroxyethyl)glycine trisodium salt hydrate is a complexing agent that is used in the preparation of detergents and other surfactants. The compound has been shown to be highly efficient in the catalytic conversion of sodium citrate to citric acid, copper to copper sulfate, and hypophosphite to phosphorous acid. It has also been shown to have low ph, high density, and catalytic activity. N-[2-[Bis(carboxymethyl)amino]ethyl]-N-(2-hydroxyethyl)glycine trisodium salt hydrate is stable over a wide range of temperatures (5-30 °C), pH values (4-10), and concentrations (0.1%-5%). The compound can also be used as an additive for the preparation of heterogeneous catalysts.
