Product Information
- N-tert-Butoxycarbonyl-L-tyrosine ethyl ester
- ethyl N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)-L-tyrosinate
Boc-Tyr-OEt is a chiral, hydrogen chloride-sensitive amide with a kinetic acidity of pKa = 5.5. It is synthesized by the reaction of the amino acid Boc-Tyr and ethyl esters in hydrochloric acid. The Boc-Tyr-OEt molecule contains two asymmetric carbon atoms which give it two possible optical isomers: R and S. This molecule has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro, but not in vivo. Boc-Tyr-OEt can be used as an inhibitor of chloride uptake into cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cellular uptake of chloride ions.
