Baohuoside V is a flavonoid glycoside that belongs to the group of diphyllosides. It is purified from the root of Baohua by high-performance liquid chromatography on a reversed-phase column. Baohuoside V has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor activities and can be used as an adjuvant in chemotherapy. Baohuoside V has been shown to have estrogenic activity, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of progesterone by inhibiting the enzyme aromatase.
