5-bromobenzo[d]thiazole is a compound that belongs to the group of dithiazoles and can be synthesized from recycled materials. The compound has been shown to have a number of important properties, including nanosheet formation, an active methylene group, terminal alkynes, and the ability to undergo ultrasonication. 5-bromobenzo[d]thiazole has also been shown to undergo hydrosilylation with dimethylformamide and reductive elimination in the presence of boron trifluoride etherate. It has also been shown that 5-bromobenzo[d]thiazole can undergo cross-coupling reactions with various halides in the presence of copper or palladium catalysts, depending on reaction time and temperature. This compound also exhibits photochromism and architectures that are dependent on its optical properties.
