Product Information

Name:
3-Bromopyruvic acid hydrate
Synonyms:
  • Bromopyruvate
  • Propanoic Acid, 3-Bromo-2-Oxo-, Ion(1-)
Description:

3-Bromopyruvic acid hydrate is a calcineurin inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines, such as TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6. 3-Bromopyruvic acid hydrate also inhibits the activation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS). It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of autoimmune disorders and organ transplant rejection. 3-Bromopyruvic acid hydrate is a macrocyclic compound, which is synthesized from three bromopyruvic acid molecules by joining them through their carboxyl groups. This compound binds to the calcineurin enzyme as a competitive inhibitor.
