1,4-Bis(2-carboxyethyl)piperazine (BCEP) is a photostabilizer that is used in the production of polyester polyurethane. It can be synthesized by reaction of piperidine with 2-carboxyethylchloroformate. The reaction time and temperature are optimized to maximize the yield of BCEP. FT-IR spectroscopy and spectrometry are used to identify this product.
