Product Information
- (4-Bromophenyl)triphenylsilane
4-Bromotetraphenylsilane is an aryl halide that has been used in the synthesis of triazine compounds. It has also been shown to be a useful synthetic intermediate for the production of electroluminescent devices. The synthesis of 4-bromotetraphenylsilane can be achieved through a stepwise process, although the yield is relatively low. This molecule has been shown to react with triphenylchlorosilane in the presence of phenothiazine and a base to form 2-(4-bromophenyl)-1,1,2-triphenylethylene. This reaction is known as a Suzuki coupling reaction and can be carried out at room temperature. The functional groups present in 4-bromotetraphenylsilane are bromine, phenyl, and silicon.
