Description:
2-Bromo-3-nitrophenol is a bromonitrobenzene that can be synthesized by the sequential allylation of 1,2-diaminobenzene with allyl bromide and palladium on carbon. The 2-bromo group is then replaced with an indole nucleus by reductive cyclization. This compound is an indole alkaloid that has substituents and functional groups such as the nitro group, carbonyl group, and the phenolic hydroxyl group. 2-Bromo-3-nitrophenol has been used in the synthesis of tetracyclic compounds.
