5-Bromo-2-methoxy-3-nitropyridine is a potent inhibitor of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) that has tumor growth inhibition activity. It is also an inhibitor of cellular activities, such as cell proliferation and cell migration. 5-Bromo-2-methoxy-3-nitropyridine inhibits the activation of mammalian PI3K, which is necessary for the production of phosphatidylinositol phosphate (PIP) in cells. This drug also exhibits anti-tumor activity in hepatocellular carcinoma and other cancers with PI3K activation. 5Bromo2 methoxy 3 nitropyridine binds to the active site of mammalian PI3K and blocks the production of PIP, leading to tumor growth inhibition.
