Description

4-Bromo-3-methoxybenzaldehyde is a basic protein that inhibits the demethylation of diphenyl ethers. It has been used as a fluorescent probe for optical imaging and bifunctional molecule in vitro studies. 4-Bromo-3-methoxybenzaldehyde is also able to inhibit nerve growth factor synthesis, which may be due to its physicomechanical properties. Synthesis of the fluorophore can be inhibited by butyllithium, an organometallic reagent. The substance has been used in vitro as an inhibitor of nerve growth factor synthesis and intraoperatively in the treatment of severe burns with escharotomies.
