Product Information
- Benzamide, 4-Bromo-2-Fluoro-
4-Bromo-2-fluorobenzamide is a pharmaceutical that belongs to the class of carboxylic acid derivatives. It is used in the treatment of hyperlipidemia, and it inhibits hepatic lipogenesis by deaminating acetylcoenzyme A (acetyl-CoA) to produce malonyl-CoA. 4-Bromo-2-fluorobenzamide also lowers plasma triglyceride levels by inhibiting the synthesis of fatty acids and cholesterol. This drug has been found to be an enantiomeric pair, which means that it is composed of two stereoisomers that are mirror images of each other; however, only one form has been shown to have therapeutic activity. The other form may be responsible for some adverse effects experienced by patients treated with this drug.
