2-Bromo-4,5-difluoronitrobenzene is a synthetic antibacterial agent that is an isomer of 2,4,5-trifluorobenzoic acid. It has been shown to be effective against gram positive bacteria. The mechanism of action for this compound is not yet known. The chemical hydrolyzes in water to release the toxic cyanide ion and the less toxic trifluoroacetic acid. This compound may also have antibacterial activity due to its ability to release cuprous ions from cupric salts.
