2-Bromo-6-(trifluoromethyl)phenol is an animal fungicide that belongs to the group of haloalkyl compounds. It inhibits the growth of filamentous fungi by binding to their cell membranes, causing a loss in membrane fluidity and a decrease in ion transport. 2-Bromo-6-(trifluoromethyl)phenol has been used as a fungicide for plant diseases. This compound also has a strong antifungal activity against resistant strains of fungi such as Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger. 2-Bromo-6-(trifluoromethyl)phenol is not active against bacteria or microorganisms.
