4-Bromo-6-fluoro-2-methylquinoline is a quinoline that has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of pulmonary fibrosis. It binds to the alpha1beta1 integrin, which is a receptor for collagen and other extracellular matrix proteins, inhibiting the inflammatory response by blocking the binding of these proteins. The 4-bromo substituent on the 6-fluoro group prevents the formation of reactive intermediates that are thought to cause tissue damage. This drug has been shown to be an effective treatment for pulmonary fibrosis in animal models.
