Product Information
N-(4-Bromophenyl)-2-Fluoroacetamide (NBFAA) is a fluorescent probe that can be used to measure the cytosolic calcium ion concentration. It is a nucleic acid stain for nuclear dna and stains for wild-type strains of bacteria. NBFAA binds to the DNA polymerase in the polymerase chain reaction and inhibits the activity of this enzyme. It also binds to proteins in cells, causing an increase in fluorescence when exposed to ultraviolet light. This drug has been shown to inhibit cytosolic calcium ion concentrations and protein synthesis in human serum and whole-cell recordings. NBFAA also binds to polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are needed for protein synthesis, leading to reduced levels of these fatty acids.
