Product Information
- (1,1'-Biphenyl)-4,4'-bis(diazonium), bis(tetrafluoroborate(1-))
- Biphenyl-4,4'-Bis(Diazonium) Ditetrafluoroborate
4,4'-Biphenylbisdiazonium Fluoroborate (BBBF) is a bifunctional reagent that reacts with DNA and RNA. It is used for the lysis of red blood cells in experiments. The sensitivity of BBBF to nucleic acids is dependent on the nature of the nucleic acid and its concentration. BBBF has an optimal pH value of 8.5, which can be adjusted by adding NaOH or HCl. This reagent specifically inhibits the activity of RNA polymerase II and does not inhibit protein synthesis. The use of BBBF is limited to reactions with red blood cells because it does not react with other types of cells such as white blood cells, platelets, or tissue cells.
