This compound reacts with trimethylchlorosilane to produce the organolithium reagent 2-bromo-3,4,5,6-tetrafluoro-benzene. The organolithium reagent can be reacted with carbon dioxide to form carbonation products. Mercuric chloride reacts with the bromide ion to form mercuric chloride and chloride ions.
