Description:

2-Bromo-3,4,5,6-Tetrafluoro-Benzoic Acid is an anomalous compound that can be prepared by reacting benzene with bromine and mercuric chloride. It is used as a reagent in organolithium reactions. This compound reacts with trimethylchlorosilane to produce the organolithium reagent 2-bromo-3,4,5,6-tetrafluoro-benzene. The organolithium reagent can be reacted with carbon dioxide to form carbonation products. Mercuric chloride reacts with the bromide ion to form mercuric chloride and chloride ions.
