Product Information

Name:
Butyl 2,2-difluorocyclopropanecarboxylate
Description:

Butyl 2,2-difluorocyclopropanecarboxylate (BDFP) is a reactive chemical that is used in the production of ethylene diamine. It is a precursor to the polymerization reaction with ethylene diamine and Friedel-Crafts catalysts. The first step in this process involves the formation of an acyl chloride intermediate by reacting BDFP with thionyl chloride. This intermediate reacts with ethylene diamine to form the polymer, which can be purified by distillation or crystallization. BDFP has been shown to be an effective predictive biomarker for the detection of gram-negative bacteria in water containers due to its delamination properties.
