Description:
2',5'-Bis(2,2,2-Trifluoroethoxy)Acetophenone is a chlorinated compound that has been shown to be an antiarrhythmic agent. It has been shown to inhibit the re-entry mechanism of ventricular arrhythmias by blocking potassium channels in the heart muscle and prolonging the action potential duration. The synthesis of 2',5'-bis(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)acetophenone can be achieved by chlorinating acetophenone with chlorine in the presence of alkali metal and cuprous chloride as catalysts. This process requires acid as a solvent mixture. Flecainide can also be synthesized using this process.
