Product Information

Name:
[2,6-Bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]boronic acid
Synonyms:
  • boronic acid, B-[2,6-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-
  • (2,6-Bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)boronicacid
Description:

2,6-Bis(trifluoromethyl)phenylboronic acid is a boronic acid that has been synthesized. It is a stereoselective reagent for the sulfation of alcohols and amines. 2,6-Bis(trifluoromethyl)phenylborinic acid can be used as a synthetic intermediate for other compounds in organic synthesis. This compound has also been shown to be an effective reagent for the epoxidation of enones with high chemoselectivity. The mechanistic theory behind this reaction suggests that the hydroxide ion removes hydrogen from the double bond of the enone, leaving it susceptible to oxidation by the boronate ester.
