Bis(trifluoro-2,4-pentanedionato)magnesium (BTPMg) is an additive that has been shown to improve the efficiency of lithium ion batteries. It can be used as a replacement for other additives, such as lithium hexafluorophosphate (LiPF6), which are more difficult to synthesize and process. BTPMg improves the electrochemical performance of lithium ion batteries by increasing the coulombic efficiency and reducing the overpotential at high voltages. This additive also has a high stability in cycling and does not require any special electrolytes or electrodes.
